CONTROLLED PHOTOGRAPHY -part 2

EXTERIOR SHOTS

1.
In this shot Francisco's posture is very laid back, emphasised by the arm resting on the window, which highlights his confidence. He is smiling, representing him as welcoming. On the window there is a poster stating "Wake up to a hearty breakfast"- Francisco is positioned to advertise this. He is also directly looking at the camera, which allows eye-contact to be made with the viewer of this photograph.

2.
This is a long shot of James. He is presented as a very powerful, serious man. His straight posture and the slight low angle emphasise his power and allow him to be viewed as superior. He is not smiling and not looking directly at the camera highlighting his seriousness. James is positioned under the tree therefore their is no lighting from above him but from front and partly from behind.

3.
This shot represents me as rebellious. This is because the shot shows mid-action of me breaking the rule on the sign - 'Keep Out'. I am not facing the camera- this reflects the fact I do not want my identity revealed. The prop of the leather jacket emphasises the rebelliousness.

ENHANCED VERSION:

I decided to crop the image, allowing the focus of the signs to be emphasised. It additionally removes the greenery which added a positive vibe to the image- not suitable for the story behind this shot.  I also darkened the photo and made the colours less vibrant. This allows a more negative atmosphere to be created, which foreshadows the crime.

CONTROLLED PHOTOGRAPHY -part 1

INTERIOR SHOTS

1.

This shot presents Francisco as a professional, talented pianist. I decided to take this shot as a low angle shot, making Francisco appear superior and professional. His facial expression is focused which evokes his professionalism and skill. The lighting is natural- the positioning of the camera allows only part of Francisco's face to be visible therefore causing the focus to mainly be on the piano.
2.

This shot was taken in classroom settings, presenting James as a teacher. This is emphasised through the use of the props, such as the pencil behind ear, computer, coffee mug. Within the frame, there is part of a 'student' visible, emphasising the classroom setting and also representing James as a teacher which finds it difficult to deal with students, as the student is being rebellious- feet up on the table and talking on the phone.
ENHANCED VERSION:

I decided  that the image appears better when it is cropped, as James becomes more obvious within the shot, as the image zooms in when it is cropped. Although some of the frame is cropped, it is still obvious that the setting is a classroom, through the mise-en-scene.

3.

This shot presents me as someone in a powerful position. This is due to the low angle shot and my posture of hand on waist and chin up. We decided to position me facing towards the windows, as the natural light allows me to be fully visible.
Initially, I was positioned with the window behind me, which made me appear dark and not fully visible.  (image below)
